My name is Jackie Jorgensen. On April 10 2025 I was diagnosed with ALS. I had been told I had carpal tunnel and had persistent hand weakness for 2 years. I also had difficulty swallowing and a dry mouth with some difficulty speaking. None of the 7 Neurosurgeon's or countless doctors I saw put this together until I went to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. It still took 6 months to get an affirmative diagnosis. Which is unfortunate because there is no cure. Treatments to prolong life need to start ASAP. Life expectancy is 2-5 years.
